Mayor Maria Pacheco: Fighting for Education, Housing, and Community Growth
From Overcoming Adversity as a Young Mother to Leading as Mayor and Championing Stronger Communities, Education, and Opportunity for All

As a young mother, I faced housing insecurity and struggled. I worked hard to overcome those challenges, and those experiences shaped my commitment to serve others and expand opportunity for families across our community.
I’m proud to serve as Mayor of Kerman, an education advocate, wife, and mother of six. I earned my degree in social work at Fresno State University and built my career helping families and students overcome the same barriers I once faced. I developed programs for at-risk youth and helped students access higher education. When rural students, including my own daughter with special needs, lacked transportation to Fresno City College, I organized community partners to secure a bus, ensuring they reached their classes.
As the first Latina of Indigenous roots to serve as Mayor, I’ve secured millions for public safety, expanded workforce opportunities, and delivered direct investments to support families.
Now, I am running for Fresno County Supervisor to champion safer neighborhoods, stronger schools, access to quality housing and water, and an economy where everyone has the opportunity to get ahead.
